Earlier this month, Cirencester’s Jazz Cave welcomed one of the finest names in contemporary jazz, Greg Abate, for an unforgettable evening of music. The acclaimed alto saxophonist, flautist, and composer brought his world-class talent to the UK as part of his extensive touring schedule, performing more than 200 days a year globally.
Greg, a Berklee College of Music graduate, boasts a stellar career that includes two years as lead alto saxophonist with none other than Ray Charles’ band. Known for his impeccable taste in musicians, Charles’ decision to enlist Greg underscored the saxophonist’s extraordinary skill and artistry.
Greg’s solo career has taken him to some of the most prestigious stages worldwide, earning him a reputation as a "stonkingly fine" jazz performer. His stop in Cirencester saw him share the stage with a superb rhythm section comprising Tom Berge on piano, Paul Jefferies on bass, and Charlie Stratford on drums. Together, they delivered a performance that left the audience captivated and craving more.
