Cirencester Community Awards Celebrating Local Heroes and Launching the New Young Champion Award

Last year's winner, George and Cameron from Cirencester College

Cirencester’s remarkable community spirit will once again take centre stage this spring as nominations are now open for the 2026 Cirencester Community Awards.

This year introduces an exciting change: the Young Champion Award, replacing the former Young Entrepreneur category. The refreshed award recognises young people aged 16–25 who make a meaningful difference — whether through volunteering, fundraising, supporting neighbours, or inspiring others through acts of kindness.

Organisers are encouraging the community to help spotlight these unsung young heroes.

Last year’s winners, George and Cameron from Cirencester College, exemplified the power of youth leadership. Their documentary project, Threads of History: Picking at Cirencester’s Past, brought together students, local businesses, and Cirencester Radio to create a compelling film journeying from Roman times to the Second World War. Their work was viewed by 150 people at the 2025 ceremony and earned them recognition from the High Sheriff of Gloucester. Their story demonstrates how young people contribute creativity, energy, and fresh perspectives to the town’s cultural life.

Alongside the Young Champion Award, community groups can enter three organisational categories celebrating excellence in project delivery, teamwork, and sustainability. Two individual honours — including the Young Community Champion (16–25) and Cirencester Champion (25+) — recognise those who go the extra mile for neighbours, charities, or the wider community.

Organised by Cirencester Radio in partnership with Cirencester Community Development Trust (CCDT), the awards shine a light on the individuals, volunteers, and organisations whose dedication strengthens the town’s sense of connection and belonging.

For more information and how to enter, please go to: Cirencester Community Awards - Cirencester Radio, or a copy of the forms can be collected from the Cirencester Town Council Information Office. Completed entries must be submitted by 4 pm on Friday, 10 April 2026. Winners will be announced at a community celebration on 27 April 2026 at Cirencester Baptist Church.
