Penny Carpenter

Hello, my name is Penny and I host What’s On: Penny’s Picks on Cirencester Radio, which airs every month at 8pm on a Wednesday. The show covers events coming up in around Cirencester with special emphasis on supporting charities and all the hard work they do.

If you have anything you would like me to mention on the show, please do get in touch: pennycarpenter@cirencesterradio.com. As well as giving shout-outs to local concerts, fetes, fundraisers, Clubs, fun runs and cake sales, I also cover local theatre, cinema, restaurants and bars. We have so much to enjoy here in Cirencester!

The show includes music too, established artists as well as new talent. I have been presenting my show for over a year now and have featured the local artist Weather, London Street Busker Charlotte Campbell, Elvis, Bowie, as well as classical and jazz music and who can resist songs from the musicals.

Every month I also include two or three interviews, and wow, have we had a few giggles and learnt some things along the way. Laurence Llewyln Bowen told us all about the set design for Troi, Emma, Beth and Stuart from the Museum, NBA, and The Barn spoke about Project Orpheus, and we heard from winners of the Cirencester Community Awards.

Penny’s Picks also featured the ‘Book Nook’ earlier this year with interviews with authors and publishers. It was a real privilege to speak to such talented people. If you have a moment, have a read of ‘Kirin of the Dobunni’ and don’t forget the hidden musical talents of Cirencester Library’s very own Dan Billings. • Virginia Stourton

I have had a career in franchising, which included running my own successful international interior design business. This experience has given me infinite knowledge of the business world. I lend these skills to interviewing business personnel with whom I easily identify.

  • Malcolm Lewis

I'm Malcolm Lewis, and I have been a volunteer presenter for Cirencester Radio since 2020. Growing up in the West Midlands, over 70 years ago, I became very interested in music and remember in 1953 going to see the D'Oyly Carte Opera company for the first time, as well as classical music concerts at Birmingham Town Hall.

  • Duncan Belcher

Hi, I’m Duncan Belcher, and I’ve been volunteering with Cirencester Radio since 2020. I present ‘The Power of Music’ every Monday at 6pm. Two shows a month, one a regular show with features like ‘Under the Covers’ and ‘The Story is the Song’, and then a special show with music based on a specific subject. I had the idea for the show after I had volunteered for a wonderful charity called ‘Playlist For Life’.

  • Sheila Lloyd-Graham

May I introduce myself. My name is Sheila Lloyd-Graham, and I am originally from Cirencester. I have had three Sporting Careers as a WRAC PTI, teaching in Scotland, London, Hampshire & Berlin. While working with the Americans in West Berlin, Germany, in the seventies and eighties, I used to travel into the British Sector to provide exercises over the Airwaves on British Forces Broadcasting Services, along with Baz Riley. On returning to the UK, I didn’t hesitate when asked to be interviewed on Corinium Radio – now Cirencester Radio.
