Celebrating Community Spirit: Cirencester Gears Up for the annual Awards Evening

Audience gathered at Cirencester Baptist Church for the 2025 Community Awards

Cirencester’s muchloved Community Awards return this spring with an uplifting evening of celebration, live entertainment, and recognition of the people and organisations who make the town such a vibrant and connected place.

Organised by Cirencester Radio in partnership with the Cirencester Community Development Trust (CCDT), the awards honour the volunteers, neighbours, community groups, and unsung champions whose dedication strengthens the town’s sense of belonging.

This year’s ceremony will take place on 27 April 2026 at Cirencester Baptist Church and promises to be a joyful community gathering from start to finish. The event is FREE to attend, but tickets must be booked prior to the event.

Awards Presented by the Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Gloucestershire. The evening will be led by Richard Bradley, Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Gloucestershire, marking the second year of Lieutenancy support for the event.

Richard Bradley was appointed Vice Lord-Lieutenant by His Majesty The King in April 2025, following an extensive career in public service including Gloucestershire Constabulary, local government, and as Chief Executive of the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner.

Carole Boydell, Cirencester Radio comments, “His experience supporting community-based projects makes his involvement especially meaningful.” Guests will be welcomed by Cirencester’s Town Crier, setting the tone for a lively and celebratory evening.

Before the ceremony begins, attendees can explore the Community Market Place in the café area of the Baptist Church — a showcase of local organisations and initiatives.

The evening opens with performances from two musical groups:
The Tutti Flutti Flute Choir – a community ensemble of around twelve players of all ages, led by Clemency, performing as guests move from the Market Place into the Main Hall.

The Alex Steele Trio – fresh from the well-established Cirencester Jazz Club bringing professional flair and energy to the start of the celebration.
