Liz Young

This month’s presenter is Liz Young, although strictly speaking, I am an ex-presenter, I am still very much involved with Cirencester Radio. I was a presenter on the very first broadcast of what was then Corinium Radio.

Since then, I have presented a Classical Music programme, co-hosted the Town Crier programme and helped novice presenters learn the
ropes of broadcasting. These days I work behind the scenes, editing programmes for Virginia Stourton and Sheila Lloyd-Graham.

There is a lot more to a radio station than the sounds that come out of the speakers. There are technical and logistical issues, as well as administrative tasks, all of which must be addressed to create the finished article. Being a presenter is just the tip of the iceberg!

This month marks the beginning of a new year. We’re looking to strengthen our production team with new and enthusiastic members to bolster our diverse group of volunteers. Whatever your skill set, there will be an opportunity where you can show your passions and interests, maybe learn something new. The best and most rewarding part of being involved with Cirencester Radio is passionately producing a radio station that serves
the local community.

Getting involved couldn’t be easier. Just visit Cirencester Radio and click on the ‘Contact’ button to the right of the Home page. Then just enter your details, then we can invite you to one of our regular meetings (with tea and cake!). We’d love to meet you and discover your talents.

More from Presenter Spotlight

  • Pat O'Carroll

I’m Pat O’Carroll, and for the past 10 years or so, I have presented a weekly show dedicated to country music.

  • Virginia Stourton

I have had a career in franchising, which included running my own successful international interior design business. This experience has given me infinite knowledge of the business world. I lend these skills to interviewing business personnel with whom I easily identify.

  • Malcolm Lewis

I'm Malcolm Lewis, and I have been a volunteer presenter for Cirencester Radio since 2020. Growing up in the West Midlands, over 70 years ago, I became very interested in music and remember in 1953 going to see the D'Oyly Carte Opera company for the first time, as well as classical music concerts at Birmingham Town Hall.

  • Penny Carpenter

Hello, my name is Penny and I host What’s On: Penny’s Picks on Cirencester Radio, which airs every month at 8pm on a Wednesday. The show covers events coming up in around Cirencester with special emphasis on supporting charities and all the hard work they do.

  • Duncan Belcher

Hi, I’m Duncan Belcher, and I’ve been volunteering with Cirencester Radio since 2020. I present ‘The Power of Music’ every Monday at 6pm. Two shows a month, one a regular show with features like ‘Under the Covers’ and ‘The Story is the Song’, and then a special show with music based on a specific subject. I had the idea for the show after I had volunteered for a wonderful charity called ‘Playlist For Life’.
