I’m Pat O’Carroll, and for the past 10 years or so, I have presented a weekly show dedicated to country music.
I have been a big fan of country music since my youth, and over the years, I have been lucky enough to see many country music stars perform live.
As well as attending country music concerts in the UK, including the annual International Festival of Country Music that music impresario Mervin Connorganised between 1969 and 1992, along with the more recent, and now 3-day-long event that is Country to Country.
I have also visited Nashville on several occasions to visit the Grand Ole Opry, the country music radio show which celebrated its 100th Anniversary this year by being staged at the Royal Albert Hall. Whilst I do play today’s hits from today’s country music stars, most of my playlists are made up of hits from the country stars of yesteryear, largely taken from my own CD collection.
Mind you, it isn’t all about American singers, as I regularly include tracks by Irish singers who have recorded country music. Country music is more popular now in the UK than at any time in history, so do please join me each Thursday at 7 pm for my show Classic Country.
Also, my recent shows can be accessed via the Listen Again tab on the www.cirencesterradio.co.uk website.
As a local, volunteer-led, not-for-profit organisation, we are always looking for new sponsors, along with new volunteers who want to make their own shows.
I have had a career in franchising, which included running my own successful international interior design business. This experience has given me infinite knowledge of the business world. I lend these skills to interviewing business personnel with whom I easily identify.
I'm Malcolm Lewis, and I have been a volunteer presenter for Cirencester Radio since 2020. Growing up in the West Midlands, over 70 years ago, I became very interested in music and remember in 1953 going to see the D'Oyly Carte Opera company for the first time, as well as classical music concerts at Birmingham Town Hall.
Hello, my name is Penny and I host What’s On: Penny’s Picks on Cirencester Radio, which airs every month at 8pm on a Wednesday. The show covers events coming up in around Cirencester with special emphasis on supporting charities and all the hard work they do.
Hi, I’m Duncan Belcher, and I’ve been volunteering with Cirencester Radio since 2020. I present ‘The Power of Music’ every Monday at 6pm. Two shows a month, one a regular show with features like ‘Under the Covers’ and ‘The Story is the Song’, and then a special show with music based on a specific subject. I had the idea for the show after I had volunteered for a wonderful charity called ‘Playlist For Life’.
May I introduce myself. My name is Sheila Lloyd-Graham, and I am originally from Cirencester. I have had three Sporting Careers as a WRAC PTI, teaching in Scotland, London, Hampshire & Berlin. While working with the Americans in West Berlin, Germany, in the seventies and eighties, I used to travel into the British Sector to provide exercises over the Airwaves on British Forces Broadcasting Services, along with Baz Riley. On returning to the UK, I didn’t hesitate when asked to be interviewed on Corinium Radio – now Cirencester Radio.
Corinium Talking News (CTN) and Cirencester Radio are proud to announce a new partnership that will help promote the important work CTN does for the community.
